EACA and Cyprus Agencies Mark the Start of the Cypriot EU Presidency with Cypriot Mezze

EACA, together with its Cypriot NAC members from SDEK, co-hosted a celebratory Cypriot mezze in Brussels to mark the official kick-off of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU.

The gathering brought together agency leaders, EU and national policymakers, and institutional stakeholders for an open and timely exchange at a moment of heightened geopolitical, social, and technological challenge for Europe. Among the honoured guests were MEP Costas Mavrides and MEP Michalis Hadjipantela, whose presence underscored the importance of sustained dialogue between the communications sector and EU decision-makers.

Discussions focused on the priorities of the Cypriot Presidency, the role of communication in strengthening democracy and institutional trust, and how agencies can meaningfully contribute to Europe’s cohesion and resilience. As highlighted by SDEK President Costas Daltas in his remarks: “Communication is not a luxury, but a vital link in the economy, a tool for understanding, and a prerequisite for trust”.

EACA warmly thanks its co-organisers and partners, including SDEK board members and representatives from Cyprus and Brussels, for creating a meaningful opportunity to connect more closely with policymakers. Strengthening these relationships lies at the heart of EACA’s mission to ensure that the voice of communications agencies is heard, understood, and valued at European level.
