Europe’s Open Strategic Autonomy – Building a consensus?

As Europe revamps the bloc’s industrial strategy and competition policy to keep pace with global developments, a consensus is emerging to strengthen Europe’s strategic autonomy. This fourth edition of the Tech Policy Talks series, a cooperation between Forum Europe and Qualcomm, will analyse the growing discourse on sovereignty and Europe’s ability to strengthen its strategic capabilities while preserving a model of openness, inclusion and sustainable innovation. What is required to deepen an EU-wide consensus and appreciation of what open strategic autonomy will mean in practice, and in doing so, strengthening the single market and Europe’s competitiveness? With European industry being a leader in many sectors, how can this strong base be leveraged alongside global partnerships to boost Europe’s autonomy?
