Coalition for Better Ads gets global

On 9 January, the Coalition for Better Ads (CBA) announced that the scope of the Better Ads Standards would be extended to all countries and regions of the world. Compliance of certified web publishers will be assessed under the Better Ads Experience Program from 9 May 2019 onwards.

Up to now, the Program had focused on Europe and North America. The decision to make the Standards global results from extensive research involving more than 66,000 consumers and showing that consumers’ perception of annoying ad formats are largely aligned across countries and regions.

The CBA is a network of international trade associations and companies with an aim to implement new standards for online advertising based on research on consumer preferences. EACA belongs to the CBA through its membership of EDAA – the European Interactive Digital Advertising Alliance – and fully encourages the implementation of the Better Ad Standards in the marketplace. This would greatly improve user experience, fight against ad blockers and improve the reputation of the industry.
