The European Association of Communications Agencies (EACA) has launched a new “Ad Accessibility” mini-guide: a practical tool designed to help agencies across Europe embed accessibility into every aspect of their advertising process.
With 1 in 4 Europeans living with a disability and accessible content appearing in just 17% of ads, the guide highlights how far the industry still has to go and how we can close the gap. Drawing on insights from Scope and building on ISBA’s Ad Accessibility Network Hub, the guide outlines three essential standards for creating accessible content: accessible multimedia, visual clarity, and keyboard/screen reader usability.
“Accessible advertising goes beyond compliance – it’s about creating meaningful connections and ensuring everyone is included. With this dedicated guide, we are empowering agencies to proactively lead the charge, giving them the tools and commitment needed to guarantee accessibility is embedded in every ad,” says Bertille Calinaud, Regional DE&I Director at McCann Worldgroup and Chair of the Ad Accessibility Taskforce.
Backed by a cross-agency working group of 20 accessibility advocates within the EACA membership, the mini-guide delivers strategic advice, practical tips, and clear direction for agencies looking to take the first or next step in accessible advertising. From digital design to inclusive language, it offers a gold standard roadmap to more inclusive communication.
