The International Council for Advertising Self-Regulation (ICAS) has published the seventh edition of its Global SRO Factbook, offering a comprehensive overview of how self-regulatory organisations (SROs) are operating across 28 markets worldwide. From Europe and the Americas to Asia-Pacific, Africa and the Middle East, the 2024 edition provides an in-depth look at the structures, responsibilities and innovations shaping advertising self-regulation today.

The Factbook includes:

  • Governance and funding models of national SROs
  • Direct access to national advertising codes and standards
  • 2023 data on complaint resolution, copy advice, and pre-clearance services
  • Insights into how SROs are addressing challenges such as AI, influencer marketing, and environmental claims
  • Educational and monitoring initiatives that reinforce ethical advertising practices

Commenting on the launch, Charley Stoney, CEO of EACA and President of VoxComm’s National Associations Council, stated:

“It’s reassuring to see in the ICAS Global Factbook that self-regulatory bodies around the world are engaging with the issues that matter to agencies today, from the responsible use of AI to influencer marketing or green claims. The VoxComm board believes that effective self-regulation allows creativity to thrive responsibly, and knowing that SROs have our back helps agencies do their best work with confidence. Huge congratulations to ICAS for continuing to champion effective self-regulation globally!

The Factbook reinforces ICAS’s ongoing commitment to transparency, collaboration and responsible advertising. It serves as an essential reference point for policymakers, advertisers, agencies and regulators alike, strengthening global trust in advertising systems. From EACA, we congratulate ICAS for continuing on the lead of effective global self-regulation.
