Kreativitet & Kommunikation Signs Code of Practice on Disinformation

EACA is pleased to announce that our Danish Association member Kreativitet & Kommunikation has become the newest signatory of the Code of Practice on Disinformation.

The Code of Practice (CoP) is a voluntary industry initiative involving platforms, social networks, and the advertising industry to fight the spread of online fake news and disinformation. Signatories of the code commit to achieving relevant objectives, ranging from improving transparency in political advertising to the closure of fake accounts and demonetization of purveyors of disinformation.

CEO of Kreativitet & Kommunikation, Tine Aurvig-Huggenberger underlined the importance of the Code of Practice for the association; “As a representative of the communications industry, it is fundamental that we support the Commission’s work to combat fake news. Fake news is a threat and a destabilizing factor in democratic countries. We advise clients and politicians on campaigns and communication, and as an industry we have a great impact on society, and therefore we welcome this initiative and work.”

As European-level signatory of the CoP, EACA is committed to making their members fully aware of the Code and encouraging them to join it or respect its principles, particularly in the areas of ad scrutiny and transparency surrounding advertising practices. Kreakom has become the fourth member organization of EACA to sign the CoP in addition to association members from France, Poland and the Czech Republic.
